Mindful Ego: 5 Ways to Get Your Ego in Check
A Mindful Ego is the practice of being aware of your thoughts emotions, sensations, and surrounding environment with openness and curiosity. It pays attention when the mind wanders to a negative space or gets lost in the past or future.
> Stay in your lane and mind your business. Focus on what you can control & let other people take responsibility for their own thoughts and actions. Listen without judging, criticizing, or trying to “fix” them. An argument is a product of your ego. Calmness and silence are the voices of your soul.
> Give yourself a detox or leave of absence from social media. Allow yourself to regain the perspective of reality. Hold yourself at a higher priority than other people’s opinions of you. Send close friends and family pictures or videos by text message, it is much more personal.
> Take inventory on the friends you keep. Negative attitudes can be so contagious and have long-term impacts on your health. It is critical to surround yourself with positive, motivating, and inspiring people for this reason. You are more likely to adopt empowering beliefs and see life happen FOR you instead of TO you.
> Set small monthly goals for yourself. These are small but integral puzzle pieces in your jigsaw of long-term life goals. You gain a greater sense of self-love and confidence. Don’t let your mental construction be founded on fears and insecurity.
> Meditate. Break through any limitations your ego has set in place; don’t be imprisoned by your thoughts. “You should sit in mediation for twenty minutes a day – unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour”. – Zen Proverb
